FAQ:
Q1: What types of heat treatment fixtures does FH® offer?
A: FH® offers a complete range: Base trays, stackable baskets, open grids, hanging racks, and custom part-specific heat treatment fixtures. We cover all common heat treatment processes including hardening, tempering, annealing, carburizing, and nitriding.
Q2: How do I choose the right material for my fixture?
A: It depends on three factors:
- Operating temperature – higher temps require higher-grade alloys
- Atmosphere – carburizing and nitriding need more resistant materials
- Budget – carbon steel is cheapest but limited to low temperatures
FH® provides free material selection guidance based on your specific process.
Q3: Can FH® make custom fixtures for odd-shaped parts?
A: Yes – custom is our specialty. We design part-specific nests and holders for complex geometries, thin walls, or delicate components. Send us a part drawing or sample – we will propose an optimal design.
Q4: Do you offer both welded and cast fixtures?
A: Yes. Welded fixtures are ideal for most applications – cost-effective and quick to produce. Cast fixtures are better for complex geometries, heavy-load points, or when seamless construction is required. We recommend the best option for your needs.
Q5: What is your minimum order quantity?
A: MOQ is 1 piece for standard designs. For custom fixtures, MOQ is typically 1–2 pieces for trial. We encourage first-time customers to order a small quantity for validation.
Q6: Do you provide material certificates?
A: Yes. Every FH® fixture comes with a material test certificate (MTC) confirming the grade and composition. Weld inspection reports are available on request.
Q7: Can I use the same fixture for different processes?
A: In many cases, yes. However, we recommend dedicated fixtures when switching between aggressive atmospheres (e.g., carburizing to nitriding) as cross-contamination can accelerate wear. For general purpose (hardening + tempering), the same fixture is fine.
Q8: What is your warranty?
A: 12 months against manufacturing defects (weld cracks, casting flaws, material defects). Normal wear including creep, thermal fatigue, and atmosphere attack is not covered – these are expected over time. All fixtures are inspected before shipment.
