Why FH® 310S Racks Fixtures?
1. The Right Material for Most Nitriding Jobs
310S is a proven, cost-effective choice for nitriding fixtures. It offers better high-temperature strength than 304 and resists scaling longer than 309. FH® uses only prime 310S with full traceability.
2. Welds That Last
Poor welding causes cracks and dropped parts. Our hybrid laser-TIG process produces smooth, full-penetration welds with minimal carbide precipitation – critical for thermal cycle resistance.
3. Practical Design for Real Furnace Use
- Rounded edges reduce arc risk in plasma nitriding
- Gusseted corners prevent rack twisting
- Feet or stands keep parts off the furnace floor
4. Honest Guidance
We don’t claim 310S is “immune” to nitriding – it will develop a surface nitride layer over time. But with proper cleaning (e.g., light blasting every 30–50 cycles), FH® 310S racks deliver reliable, predictable service at a fair price.
Applications
1. Gas nitriding (ammonia atmosphere)
2. Plasma / ion nitriding
3. Tempering after nitriding
3. Parts: gears, shafts, dies, molds, fasteners, valve parts

FAQ:
Q1: How long can a 310S rack last in a nitriding furnace?
A: With regular cleaning (every 30–50 cycles), an FH® 310S rack typically lasts 80–150 cycles. 310S outperforms 304/309 but will develop a surface nitride layer over time. For extremely long life or heavy loads, consider Inconel – please consult us.
Q2: How do I clean and maintain the rack?
A: Light bead blasting (glass beads, ≤0.3 MPa) or mild pickling paste every 30–50 cycles. Do not use carbon steel brushes or heavy grinding – they damage the protective oxide layer.
Q3: Will the rack warp or sag at nitriding temperatures (600–650°C)?
A: Minimal. FH® racks feature FEA-optimized ribs and gussets. Typical creep deformation is <2 mm per 500 mm length after 100 cycles. Overloading or exceeding 650°C accelerates warping.
Q4: Do you offer an anti-nitriding coating? What does it do?
A: Yes. Our optional ceramic-based coating significantly slows nitride buildup, extending the cleaning interval to 80–100 cycles. The coating is a consumable and can be reapplied by FH®.
Q5: What is your warranty and do you provide material certificates?
A: 12 months against manufacturing defects (weld cracks, material flaws). Surface nitriding and gradual warping are normal wear – not covered. Every rack comes with a 310S mill test certificate (MTC).
