U-Shaped Radiant Tube for Industrial Furnaces
FH® Alloy U-Shaped Radiant Tubes are designed for indirect heating applications in industrial heat treatment furnaces. The U-shaped structure provides a large heat transfer surface while keeping the combustion atmosphere separated from the furnace chamber, helping achieve stable and uniform furnace heating.
Manufactured from high-temperature resistant alloys, our radiant tubes can be customized according to operating temperature, furnace atmosphere, tube dimensions, burner design and service conditions.

Heat-Resistant Alloy Material Options
Material selection is critical to radiant tube service life.
Depending on furnace temperature, atmosphere and thermal cycling conditions, FH® Alloy can manufacture radiant tubes from different heat-resistant alloy grades, including:
- 1.4848 / AISI 309-type heat-resistant alloys
- 1.4849 / AISI 310-type heat-resistant alloys
- 1.4852 heat-resistant alloys
- 2.4879 high-temperature alloy grades
- High-Ni and high-Cr heat-resistant alloys
- Nickel-based alloys for more demanding furnace conditions
The final material should be selected according to the actual operating temperature, furnace atmosphere, load and expected service life.
Material Selection Table
| GB | DIN | ASTM | JIS | Chemical Composition % | |||||||
| C | Si | Mn | Cr | Ni | Mo | P | S | ||||
| ZG40Cr25Ni20Si2 | 1.4848 | HK | SCH21 | 0.30-0.50 | 1.00-2.50 | ≤2.00 | 24.00-27.00 | 19.00-22.00 | ≤0.50 | ≤0.04 | ≤0.03 |
Manufacturing & Fabrication
Depending on the design, U-shaped radiant tubes can be manufactured using a combination of:
Centrifugal casting / static casting → machining → tube assembly → U-bend fabrication → welding → dimensional inspection → surface finishing → final inspection
For large or high-temperature radiant tubes, special attention is given to:
- Tube straightness
- Wall thickness consistency
- Weld quality
- U-bend geometry
- Overall dimensions
- High-temperature deformation resistance
This helps reduce premature failure caused by thermal stress, oxidation and dimensional distortion.
Designed for High-Temperature Furnace Service
Radiant tubes operate under repeated heating and cooling cycles. Common failure mechanisms include:
- High-temperature oxidation
- Thermal fatigue
- Creep deformation
- Tube bending
- Weld cracking
- Local overheating
- High-temperature corrosion
FH® Alloy therefore evaluates the radiant tube design according to the customer's actual furnace conditions instead of selecting material based only on nominal temperature.
For more accurate material selection, we recommend providing:
Operating temperature + furnace atmosphere + tube drawing + burner type + expected service life.
